Beholding and Becoming Beautiful

They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. For me, I can find beauty in just about anything! So much of what I spend my time doing is making things beautiful. This might sound crazy to some but this rings true to every aspect of my life. The clothes I wear, what I dress my kids in, the dishes in our home, the kids toys and trinkets MUST all be aesthetically pleasing to my eyes. My husband knows the slogan "if its not cute, its not allowed." Now before I lose you and you start to think " wow, you're materialistic" let me explain.

Up until recently, I have struggled with my own condemning thoughts about my materialism. As a Jesus pursuer I have fought hard to make sure the pretty trinkets are not golden calves in my heart. I've taken "breaks" from decorating and tried the "I don't care what it looks like as long as it functions attitude". It does not leave me in a good place. I end up right back where I started; living my life making everything I see and touch beautiful.

Through processing this with the Lord I have come to realize that this fire inside of me to add my touch to the world around me is a gift from the creator himself. Every time I put my kids in really cute clothes or I see them playing with their beautiful wooden toys I experience delight. When I style a room or strategically place plants around my house I experience delight.

What I feel like im learning right now is that IS important to see the beauty in EVERYTHING. As a stay at home mom it is important for me to experience delight in my home and in my children. My home is my sanctuary. It is the place where some of my most important work will be done. It is our safe place, the place we learn and grow physically, mentally and spiritually. My well decorated home inspires me and brings me joy in the small mundane things (like making a snacks for my kids in a pretty bowl for the 87th time in one day.) It's where I raise these babies, serve my husband and encounter the one true God. I'm learning that when spaces in my home are organized and beautiful I'm more prone to keeping up with the household work. It is my passion to make a house a home and that this is not just something I do for fun but a gift from God himself.

He is the most beautiful one. He is the creator of ALL things beautiful. When we behold Him, we become like Him. When we turn our faces towards Him we become like Him. And just as Moses's face shone when he descended from the mountain where God had allowed him to see His glory, when God enters our lives, He works in us and makes our lives "brighter and more beautiful." in every aspect. Here's the deal, in summary, our beautiful creator God CARES about you and he cares about your home. I believe that He desires for you to have a home that is beautiful and brings you joy as it is where our most important work is done.

*here are some everyday moments and things that inspire me and bring me joy*
